01 - 'Black Crow sails on a sweet breath
     over early morning. Thunderhat had
     emptied in a furious night clatter and
     littered lightning everywhere.

02 - 'Crow spies a splintered spike deep in the
     dandelions and dives. Lightning must
     be gathered with care, the fragmented hum
     held gingerly, sharp shards picked like
     fragrant petals from a dangerous flower.'

03 - 'However, Crow was disappointed to find only
     a bottle cap. The other crows were busy, ashes
     blown through a deep blue sky, black kites on
     a giving wind.'

04 - 'It had been dry in the garden longer than the
     ladybugs could remember. Even the rose bushes
     longed for a darkened sky.'

05 - 'The river was low, requiring Otter and Coon
     to slip down the hard clay bank.'

06 - 'Summer Trout scraped their soft white bellies
     on the flat river rocks trailing dragonflies
     up stream. More rain certainly was needed!'

07 - 'It is a daunting task to collect lightning, but
     crows are especially dedicated and clear eyed.
     One by one they caught the updrafts to the frozen,
     thin air to drop each precious piece into the vast
     thunderhat, who began to revolve like a dizzy,
     dancing bear.'

08 - 'Diamond dew drops clinging to the underside of
     leaves leapt up and were drawn like fireflies to
     gather on thunderhat's rim, where they flooded
     and poured inside. Thunderhat groaned and spun
     faster, an ever more powerful magnet drawing rich
     water from the sullen lake.'

09 - 'Below, tomatoes wished for a soft rain and violets
     turned their purple heads toward the rising breeze.
     The fur on rabbit ruffled and he told the garden,
     "Black Crow is stirring Thunderhat, soon a soup
     thick with life will fall from fattened clouds."'

10 - 'Thunderhat rolled in mighty circles, sweeping the
     diligent crows heavenward in a whistling wind to
     feed him the last of the lightning. Then the entire
     sky was clouded with thunderhat's full belly,
     rumbling and cracking like a runaway train.'

11 - '"It's time," grinned otter and he saluted Black
     Crow just as the first raindrops curled over his
     smooth head. Then Thunderhat burst and the earth
     was washed in a wave of golden water, clouds
     clattering open, spilling lightning everywhere
     in a magnificent show.'

12 - 'The river rose, flooding fish over pools full of
     fat bugs. The whole garden bloomed a sigh of relief,
     drinking in every delightful drop.'

13 - 'All the animals laughed, lapping up cool water
     while they waded through the puddles. Except for
     the crows; they crowed on a wire taking careful
     note of where each piece of lightning landed,
     resting a bit and sharing compliments.'

14 - 'Hungry again, Thunderhat's belly gave a final
     rumble as he rolled off across the big sky leaving
     a rainbow of light and life.'
